Starting from the Jordan Grand Hotel, I cut across a lawn, meeting Lollapalooza, the west most ski trail at the resort. The trail was mainly dirt/rock and is marked with hiker icon signs. I followed it all the way up to the top of the Jordan Bowl lift, at which point I jumped onto Kansas (ski trail) for a very short distance until I met another lift. I ascended this liftline on rock slabs to the top of Oz (possibly not an official name, but a resort name), the north sub peak of Black.
From Oz, I bushwhacked to Black, starting in thick woods that really did not get any better, all the way to the recognized highpoint of Black. From Black, I headed towards Wheeler, starting in thick woods, which opened up at the col. From the recognized highpoint on wheeler, I took a bearing on the black/bear-east col. I was able to avoid most reclimbing by shooting for the col and I found decent woods until I was on the ridge to bear-east. Things got thick again going up bear-east. It took me a fair amount of searching to find the recognized highpoint. For the return I aimed to hit the ski trail near the shoulder of Jordan Mtn. This return route treated me well and again avoided a reclimb of Black.
I found some thick going on these routes, but overall, these were fairly quick trailess peaks to reach. The ski trails offered some fine views of the Mahoosucs and ME mountains.
