| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
plenty of parking off of Stratton Brook Pond Rd. You can continue on past the major parking area where there's a sign, but I would not do this unless you have a truck you know is capable offroad. There were fairly large/ rutted mud pits. We saw a Jeep parked in the moderately closer lot |

|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
there is a bridge over the first water crossing through Stratton Brook. Pretty sweet bridge too. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
trail was in amazing shape. There are stairs leading from Moose Falls Campsite up to the col which make an otherwise steep ascent very doable.
One minor blowdown with a herd path around the side.
One area of significant mud. There were planks at one point but have since rotted out. |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
saw a couple collies up top that came up Fire Wardens |
|
| Bugs: |
none so long as you kept moving |
|
| Lost and Found: |
one pair of black thermal long johns left by the side of the trail |

| Comments: |
real nice trail. Pretty easy/ moderate up to Moose Falls with only one small steep section.
After Moose Falls, expect a good climb up to the col. The 1.3 took us about an hour of stairs. No rock scrambles.
From the col, hitting Avery and or Avery west is pretty easy/ quick. It's about a 15 minute hike out to Avery and maybe 10 min to Avery West. Like I said, quick and easy.
We decided to go out and back rather than do the Horns Pond Loop since I forgot my electrolyte supplement and was feeling sh*t; from what we heard though, the loop is worth the extra 2.5 miles. |
