| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
The road in to the Miles Notch\Great Brook trailheads is in good shape. If you're not redlining you can drive further up the road (assuming the gate is open) and cut out some road walking. |

| Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Leaves - Significant/Slippery |

|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
Crossings on Great Brook were easily accomplished. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Great Brook: The trail is in good shape along its entire length. From the wilderness boundary up to the Red Rock intersection there are a few sections where the infamous phrase "may require care to follow" applies; mostly due to leaf cover. There is evidence of maintenance that has taken place.
Red Rock: The trail between Great Brook to Speckled was cleared on Saturday. I don't know when the maintainer will get back for the portion between Great Brook to Miles Notch. There are some muddy patches but they are easily navigated. |

| Comments: |
Not much to add. Great Brook is pretty flat for two miles or so going in so you can make good time. The path is in good shape with spots of deep leaf cover being the only real obstacle. The last mile or so prior to the Red Rock junction is where the bulk of elevation gain takes place.
The Red Rock trail maintainer (Jeff Wilson) was up there this past weekend and cleared the from Great Brook all the way to Speckled. He had his work cut out for him since there were quite a few blowdowns and tree tops on the trail. There was a pretty heavy section of Hobble-bush close to Speckled that he beat back. |
