Comments
Comments: Best hiking today this year, nice and sunny with warm temps meant shorts and short sleeves - Did a 7 mile loop with a road walk connecting our traverse across most the the Pleasant mountain range. Mix of conditions with dry trails, wet trails, water running down the trails, mud, and patches of snow. Nothing too tough - water and mud can generally be avoided. Only troublesome patch of snow was at the beginning of the north ridge trail leaving the ski area - there is a stretch of 100 yards or so of deep snow - it was easiest just to step in the existing post holes - my travel companion did sink up above the waist and I sank knee deep a few times. One patch of ice before you emerge on the ledges which most people going up high to avoid. Lots of dry rock heading across the ridge with some snow when you go down into the sags between the sub-peaks but nothing that would warrant special care. Ledges trail was largely dry up top with some mud during the last .5 mile. Clear skies the entire way meeting many fellow hikers. 10+ people at the top of the ski area enjoying the sun an taking advantage of the remaining snow on the slopes. Summit area had crowds enjoying the sun and warm.
