Comments
Comments: Most of the trails had reasonable footing today. There was extensive ice flows on the Blueberry Ridge Trail on the ascent up from Bickford Brook to Blueberry Mountain. The ice can be avoided by trekking through the adjacent woods. There was some ice elsewhere but it caused no problems if care is taken. For most of the hike I wore no traction. On the descent I wore microspikes in the upper elevations as a precaution but some may decide not to use traction. Lots of dry leaves covering rocks on the lower sections of the Bickford Brook Trail.
The only other hiker on the mountain was Jim from Brunswick ME. Nice views of the Baldfaces, the Royces, and Carter-Moriah Range from the open ledges on Blueberry Ridge and the summit. Saw several Spruce Grouse.
