Plenty of parking at Grafton Loop trailhead on Rt. 26. |
| Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable |
| Recommended Equipment: |
| Water Crossing Notes: |
All crossings minor (and not really running much at all today), easy one-hops. |
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
A couple of small step-overs on GLT, and one duck under. Woodsum Spur is starting to develop a footbed, and some drainage work will need to be done, as there are muddy sections. |
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Saw two ladies out walking their dog on the lower 0.3 miles of the trail. |
| Bugs: |
Minor, some flying around, but not bothersome. |
| Lost and Found: |
Found a pair of camouflage colored binoculars on the short herd path to the boulders. Contact me if you lost them here. Also, a bunch of toilet paper (from people doing their business), right at the eastern junction with Woodsum Spur... I left that there. |

This is a peak that's been on my personal to-do list for a long time. Grafton Loop Trail is excellent, with great footing and some decent scrambles as you near the top. Followed a signed herd path to some neat boulders in the woods. It abruptly ended, though some flagging tape indicated there might be some work happening to make it a loop? Summit was great, low clouds hanging around. Woodsum Spur is pretty nice, not heavily traveled, and soft. Overall, a great hike, with substantial gain. Got out before the rain!
Blog post soon. |
