Hiking Trail Conditions Report
Peaks
Peaks Mt. Abraham, ME
Trails
Trails: Mt. Abraham Trail
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Saturday, August 9, 2014
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Room for 5-6 cars in largest area of pull off with room for more on the side of it. Trail head is 6 miles from Route 27. Rapid stream road gets rougher the further in you go, but with care you can make it in a smaller car without issue like I did with my Carolla Sport. One washed out culvert is replaced with logs in the hole, be careful here.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: First two river crossings were done with dry boots at or near the old bridges. All others are small easy rock hops
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: A day out with the ax and saw would be a good thing. Numerous easy step overs, some medium difficulty step overs, and a handful of blow downs that now have 1 or more herd paths forming around them. 1 or 2 duck unders as well
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw one enjoying himself. Not much for water after leaving the old cabin site. Multiple brooks before that
Bugs
Bugs: A few at times, but nothing too annoying
Lost and Found

Comments
Comments: Take an immediate right after the 2 rivers crossings at the washed out bridges. This takes you right up to the trail. Climb is steep in places after the old cabin site, but there is good footing. The above treeline area gives this peak a bit of a big mountain feel while still being small. Weather was great for the hike today
