|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
minor stream crossings and a well built snowmobile bridge in the middle of no where |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
snowmobile trails are well maintained, the abandoned trail has many young beach trees that have grown to eye level. We were able to spy a few old yellow blazes that still remain. No issues finding old trail bearing left off snowmobile. Finding trail from Wild River side might prove to be difficult it is well hidden. |

Hastings Trail (abandoned) bushwhack
We decided to do one more thing while we were already in the area. This is a nice walk in the woods, lots of moose sign and we saw a big owl fly low right in front of us! Started on the Maine-NH boarder and headed into Maine. Started and ended on well maintained snowmobile trail, bear left as snowmobile trail starts to gain elevation onto woods trail--the trail is quickly being reclaimed by the forest. Luckily few briars but we swam through lots of young trees popping up everywhere. There are some lovely super large white pines to be found along the way. Old guide book reads that this was once part of an anbandoned telephone line, saw no evidence to confirm. |
