| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Parking at metal bridge 1/2 mile before AT is best for low clearance cars with room for 6 in the pull off and more along the side of the road. Probably room for 3-4 trucks/suvs at the grassy pull off near the AT crossing |
| Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable |
| Recommended Equipment: |
| Water Crossing Notes: |
First river crossing was a rock hop until the plank someone has put across the larger gap. Plank has a cable attached to one end to help it not float too far away in high water. All others were minor brooks/springs along the trail |
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
In good shape. Some muddy sections could use stepping stones as there are paths being formed |
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Didn't see any today, but did see tracks. Some good water spots to Sugarloaf, but no good ones over to Spaulding |
| Bugs: |
Annoying on Spaulding summit, but not biting bad. Annoying sporadically in other spots if you stopped |

| Comments: |
A bit warm and humid with no breeze at all it seemed. Only saw thru hikers and section hikers on the trail today. Did Spaulding before Sugarloaf to save the views for the end. Sugarloaf views are nice, but too many of them get a structure of some sort in them. PUDs between the peaks are a bit annoying, but not hard. Steep section heading up shortly after the river is tricky both up and down. You'll have to plan your route some here. A rabbit hoped onto the trail right in front of me (about 10 feet away) just after I put my camera away. Figures |
