| Water Crossing Notes: |
The crossings on the west end of Haystack Notch were all easy hops, the ones on the east required care, and I ended up dunking my shoes and wading across two of them. All other crossings hoppable. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Plenty of blowdowns of all varieties along this loop, and of all vintages. Some very grown in sections of Haystack Notch Trail and Red Rock Trail, but both were able to be followed with care. Some rotting bog bridges and a couple of obscure turns on these trails too. |

Some flying around, but not bothersome at all. |

| Comments: |
Red-lined out this big loop today. While the sun was out on Haystack Notch Trail, it soon disappeared, and I hiked this spectacular, not often visited ridge in the clouds and mist. All the more reason to hit it again! Some muddy spots, but overall smooth going up to Speckled, then some monorail down to about the Spruce Hill junction. A very enjoyable day in the Caribou-Speckled Mountain Wilderness!
