A great day in Acadia - park loop road is open from Visitor center through Gorham mtn parking lot. Cold and windy. Hemlock trail - a few icy patches you can avoid. North Ridge - once you hit the ledges it's half rock and half ice to almost the top - traction is definitely needed but you'll end up in and out of them unless you want to go seriously off trail and even so you'll need to step carefully. South Ridge a lot easier with ice that is mostly avoidable with one tricky section. Until they get snow or until spring this will be a tricky traverse. Canon Brook and Kane path nice and easy. Chilly with winds up top but amazing views - Acadia is always the best in my opinion in the off season! |
