Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: A few easy crossings, just be careful with the fallen leaves, they can hide good step stones or they can look like solid spots to step on.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Many blowdowns the whole length of this trail. The Hastings section to the Shelburne Trail has not had any trail maintenance due to the bridge over the Wild River being washed out in August 2011. Now that the wooden suspension bridge has been replaced by a steel bridge we can access this end of the Highwater Trail. I cleared a few small blowdowns and clipped brush and branches as I hiked.

Comments
Comments: This trail section from Hastings to the Moriah Brook Trail is not in the Wild River Wilderness but it feels like it is. I saw one hiker today and saw some sightseers at the new bridge. Really nice day today, temps from 40 to 60, partly cloudy sky. Fallen leaves all over the trail which makes for some tricky walking as well as crunchy hiking. Amazing to see the erosion and damage from T.S. Irene in 2011.
