Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: No problems.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Signage along these routes is poor, especially on the southern side of the mountain, where various woods roads intersect. One critical right turn toward the summit has a sign that says "Summit ->" about 30 feet before it, with the sign facing ... nothing. Odd. Many junctions on this route are not signed. RTMT is blazed in blue (the blazes disappear when it runs concurrent with MMT), MMT is blazed in White.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Sure. Saw several.
Bugs
Bugs: Nope.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Nothing.

Comments
Comments: It's been years since I'd been here, over a decade I'm sure. A nice loop on mostly old woods roads up to the fire tower, which offers extensive views out to New York, Vermont and New Hampshire, with Mt. Monadnock being very prominent. A few neats relics remain along the RTMT from the former ski area, most notably a huge engine for the tow.

On the way up I hopped off the MMT at the stream crossing just before the lean-to shelter and followed an unmarked woods road. Several blowdowns right at the beginning, but otherwise easy to follow. After a while the road narrowed into a trail, then met another old woods road. This slabbed up the slope and rejoined the MMT just before the summit. These roads do not appear on the DCR map (http://www.mass.gov/eea/docs/dcr/parks/trails/mgrace.pdf) but appear to be well-traveled.

Trails were generally dry, with some muddy wet areas on the RTMT heading back to the parking area. There were a couple of tiny patches of ice along the MMT near the summit that were desperately trying to hang on for dear life.
