Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: We were the first car when we arrived about 7:30 AM and when we got back around 11:00 there were 2 other cars. Lot was well plowed from Wednesday's (the 26th) storm.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Snow - Unpacked Powder, Snow/Ice - Postholes
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Snowshoes
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Nothing significant.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: A good-sized blowdown on the State Line Trail. Too spiny to step over it but can be walked around. We followed the tracks of a deer who also walked around it.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Lots of dog prints from yesterday's visitors, but we didn't see any dogs today. There were also some canine prints unaccompanied by a human on one stretch, so maybe a coyote.
Bugs
Bugs: We saw a barely moving spider in a bootprint in the snow. He must have fallen from a tree. He was a goner.

Comments
Comments: Wednesday's storm (day before Thanksgiving) left about 8-10 inches on Watatic. Then last night a dusting of snow had coated Thanksgiving day's tracks. We broke trail with snowshoes over a lot of bareboot postholes which was a chore. On the part of the trail that is a dirt road between Nutting Hill and the state line the postholers turned around, apparently because they were breaking through to the muddy slushy roadbed and were getting their feet wet. That made the going better because we were able to walk in the track left by a snowmobiler who apparently drove out of NH and then turned around just before Nutting Hill. The woodsy part of the State Line Trail was unbroken out til we got there. A decent day with Snapsquatch.
